Class Description:

The Two-Tone Quaker Bell Sampler is a joined original designed sampler with an historic nod to the Quaker style popular both in the UK and the mid-Atlantic areas of the US in the late 19th and early 19thcenturies. The new technique in this class will be the joining of two colors of linen to add greater interest to a sampler. Emphasis will also be given to color and customization.

During the class, Pamela will demonstrate color/linen interactions termed "a color throwdown" whereby students can see the impact and effect of including or excluding one color.  The color of linen has impact on the vibrancy of the silk selections, and there interactions can emotionally change the perceptions of color.  The students will "vote" on the results.  This segment is a popular addition to her classes and will hopefully change the way you look at nature, and give you the confidence to change colors on your future needlework projects.

Afterwards, it is possible for students to exchange kit colors on a 1:1 basis (during a quiet "stitching time").

Also during the class, time will be spent on ways for each student to customize their sampler to reflect a quote, name date, and hometown information.  The goal is to have each sampler "personalized", but obvious that each student had the same instructor.  While the sampler can be done is cross stitch, there are opportunities to add other relevant stitched commensurate with the historical period and is encouraged.

The kit will consist of 36-count linen, provided by Weeks Dye Works, and Gloriana silks throughout.  The kit will also contain alphabet graphs for customization, needles, picture, sampler graph, blank graph paper, and complete instructions.

As you see we will be the first for this class! Pamela is stitching like crazy and holding down a full time job as well.
